Privacy Policy
frAIgrant is a fragrance social platform that helps you log your collection, rate fragrances, and get personalized recommendations. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can and we never sell your data.
1. Who we are
frAIgrant ("frAIgrant," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by Sheikh Ventures LLC. The frAIgrant mobile app and the website at fraigrant.com are covered by this policy. If you have questions, reach us at hello@fraigrant.com.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details. Your email address, used to create your account and sign you in with a magic link. We do not store passwords.
- Profile information. An optional handle, display name, short bio, avatar, and whether your profile is public or private.
- Your fragrance data. The fragrances you add to your collection, your 1 to 10 ratings, the notes you say you smell, wear dates, head-to-head comparison picks, and optional taste-quiz answers.
- Photos you choose to scan. If you use the bottle-scan feature, the photo you take or upload is sent for recognition so we can identify the fragrances in it. See sections 4 and 5.
- Messages to us. Anything you email or send when you contact support or join the waiting list.
Information collected automatically
- Approximate location. For the "Scent of the Day" feature, the app may use your approximate location to fetch local weather. This is used at the moment of the request and is not stored as a location history.
- Basic technical data. Standard log and device information (such as app version and error reports) needed to keep the service running and to fix bugs.
- On-device storage. Some preferences and comparison results are stored locally on your device or browser so the app works smoothly. You can clear these at any time.
We do not collect government IDs, payment card numbers, health data, or precise GPS tracking. We do not sell your personal information. Our blog pages use affiliate link technology (see section 6); the app itself contains no third-party advertising trackers.
3. How we use your information
- To create and maintain your account and sign you in.
- To store your collection, ratings, and profile, and to sync them across the web app and mobile app.
- To generate personalized recommendations, taste insights, and the social feed of people you follow.
- To power AI features you choose to use (see section 4).
- To respond to your messages and provide support.
- To keep the service secure, diagnose problems, and improve the product.
- To send you the emails you sign up for, such as waiting-list updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
4. AI features and photos
frAIgrant uses Anthropic's Claude models to power optional features including bottle recognition, "Scent of the Day," "Ask frAIgrant," and taste insights. When you use one of these features:
- The relevant input (for example, a photo of your bottles or your typed question, along with relevant parts of your collection) is sent to Anthropic to produce a response.
- Photos are used to identify fragrances and return results to you. They are processed for that request and are not stored on our servers or used to build advertising profiles.
- AI features are entirely optional. The app remains fully functional without them.
Anthropic processes this data as our service provider. You can review Anthropic's practices at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
5. Camera access
frAIgrant requests camera and photo-library access only to power the bottle-scan feature, which identifies fragrances from an image you provide. You can use the app fully without granting this access by searching for fragrances by name instead. We never access your camera in the background.
6. Who we share information with
We share data only with the service providers that make frAIgrant work, and only as needed:
- Supabase hosts our database and handles authentication (your account, profile, and fragrance data). Privacy policy.
- Anthropic processes AI requests and bottle-scan photos, as described above. Privacy policy.
- Netlify hosts our website and serverless functions. Privacy policy.
- Brevo manages our email and waiting list if you opt in. Privacy policy.
- Open-Meteo provides weather data for "Scent of the Day" based on approximate location.
- CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction) powers affiliate links on our blog pages. When you click a link to a partner retailer from an article, CJ records the click so the retailer can credit us with a commission, at no extra cost to you. This applies to blog pages only. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or in connection with a merger or acquisition. We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
7. How long we keep your information
We keep your account and fragrance data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your associated personal data, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes. Local on-device data is removed when you clear it or uninstall the app.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can:
- View and edit your profile and collection directly in the app at any time.
- Make your profile private so your collection is not visible to people who do not follow you.
- Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any message we send.
- Request a copy or deletion of your data by emailing hello@fraigrant.com.
We will respond to verified requests within the time required by applicable law.
9. Deleting your account
You can request deletion of your frAIgrant account and personal data at any time by emailing hello@fraigrant.com from the address tied to your account. We will confirm and complete the deletion, removing your profile, collection, ratings, and related data from our systems.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, passwordless magic-link sign-in, and row-level access controls so users can only reach their own data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to address issues promptly if they arise.
11. Children's privacy
frAIgrant is intended for users aged 17 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at hello@fraigrant.com and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, provide notice in the app or by email. Continued use of frAIgrant after an update means you accept the revised policy.
