Built by a fragrance person, for fragrance people
frAIgrant started behind a fragrance counter, not in a lab. The whole product is one idea: take the thing a good shop assistant does, ask the right questions and hand you something you will actually love, and make it available to everyone.
Where this came from
I ran a fragrance store and recommended scents to strangers for a living. People came in overwhelmed. Hundreds of bottles, a wall of jargon, prices from twenty dollars to three hundred, and reviews online that contradicted each other because a fragrance smells different on every person. Most of them did not need more options. They needed someone to ask a few good questions and point.
I got good at that part. Customers thought I had a magic nose. I did not. I just asked better questions and listened to what people already loved. That skill does not scale behind one counter. So I built it into an app.
What frAIgrant is
Think of it as Letterboxd for fragrance. You log the bottles you own, rate them, and run quick head-to-head comparisons. From that, frAIgrant builds a picture of your taste and recommends what to try next. It is personal, not a crowd-sourced average, because an average is exactly what fails you when scent is this individual.
- Log your collection and rate what you own, including how each scent really performs on your skin.
- Get personal recommendations tuned to your taste, not the loudest review online.
- Learn as you go. Tap any term you do not know and get a plain-English definition, right where you hit it.
- Wear the right thing today. The app reads the season and weather and suggests from what you already own.
The mission: lower the knowledge barrier
Fragrance can feel like a gated hobby, full of terms designed to make newcomers feel like outsiders. I never thought that was fair, and frankly it is bad for everyone, including the shops. So the guiding principle of frAIgrant is to teach first. Every guide on this site and every screen in the app is built to make a beginner feel welcome, not tested. If you have ever felt dumb asking a "basic" fragrance question, this is for you.
Expensive does not mean better. Notes lists do not tell you how a scent smells on you. Sampling beats blind buying. And the smartest way to explore is often an affordable bottle, not the priciest one on the shelf. We say all of this out loud, even when it sells fewer expensive bottles.
How frAIgrant stays free
The core app is free. When the app shows you where to buy a fragrance, some of those links are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you choose to buy through them, at no extra cost to you. That, plus optional premium features, is how we keep the lights on without charging for the basics. We only point you toward retailers we would use ourselves. You can read the full affiliate disclosure any time.
Who is behind it
frAIgrant is built by Ahmed and operated by Sheikh Ventures LLC, the same team behind the fragrance shop Sheikh Scents. It is an independent project, still early, and shaped heavily by the people testing it. If you have thoughts, complaints, or a fragrance question, I genuinely want to hear it: hello@fraigrant.com.
Come help shape it
